MORSON are recruiting for two exciting permanent vacancies for our client to be based in Geneva in Switzerland.

In the last few years, over $2MM in capital has been invested to enhance technical capabilities in Europe. Additional strategic investments are planned to continue building the Companys capability to provide New Technology and Product Innovations in Europe.

European Mechanical Technical Centre profile.

-European Engineering Centre for product design, product development and project management. Based in Geneva with an existing design centre in northern Italy
-Qualified as remote Engineering Centre of the Corporations US Technical Centre
-European capability is being developed in Geneva Switzerland, supported by the experienced US based staff.

Range of projects

Projects include Aerospace and Industrial Electromechanical systems products based on fluid technology, Active Balancing technology, and Active Vibration Control technology. The projects are related to mechanical and/or electromechanical components and systems for controlling noise and vibration and accommodating motion.

Products can be passive, semi-active, or fully active. The work require broad application of a range of disciplines including System design, Detail Mechanical design, Dynamics, Control, Electronics and Mechatronics.

THE ROLE
The responsibilities of the Senior Electromechanical Systems engineer are as follows:

-Understand the function of the electronic, mechanical and software components and their interactions within the Dynamic Mechanical systems of our customers.
-Act as lead engineer and complete detail design work in at least two of the three areas noted above [Electronic, Mechanical, Software] while being able to work at the system integration level.
-Work collaboratively with customers to define and develop electromechanical solutions. Help the customer identify problems and specify proper solutions for noise, vibration and motion control problems. This includes working collaboratively with the customer to generate and optimize the system specifications.
-Approach each project with a Design to Cost mentality
-Work with the customer to effectively and innovatively integrate electronics, control software and hardware. Act as primary technical liaison with the customer.
-Act globally in support of collaborative efforts with US based technology team. Work closely with other organisational groups within the Company including Purchasing, Marketing and Sales, Value Stream and Manufacturing. Leadership and coordination of technical resources in remote locations including Italy and the US will be required.
-Lead product development efforts for assigned projects, from definition through, detail design, validation and serialization in the customer•s application.
-Write technical proposals and generate original concepts in response to the perceived needs of the customer. Lead technical presentations internally and at the customers sites.
-Travel will be required for 40-55% of the time to develop customer relationships and new applications for Lord Electromechanical technology.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
Requirements for successful candidate are as follows:

-Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering / Mechatronics
-Minimum 5-10 years direct experience designing, validating and implementing Electromechanical systems and products for vibration control and motion accommodation
-Detailed understanding of core engineering principles related to: mechanical design, dynamic systems modelling, controls, and electrical engineering
-Background with dynamic forces of motion, mechanical dynamic systems, hydraulically controlled or electrically controlled. e.g. suspensions systems and steering systems.
-Mastery of computer-based dynamic simulation and FEA tools (e.g.MATLAB/SIMULINK, ADAMS, ANSYS, NASTRAN, etc.).
-Working knowledge and understanding of controls issues: Servo-control loops, stability, etc.
-Experience working with Tier 1 vehicle manufacturers in aerospace or industrial markets
-Experience in vehicle testing and knowledge of mechanical testing methodologies
-A track record in taking products from conception to production.
-Collaborative approach, acting as the link between Sales and Manufacturing.
-Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and preferably French.
-Willing to move within continental Europe.

The salary package is negotiable and will depend on the experience of the candidate but is competitive in order to attract high calibre candidates. Relocation assistance will also be provided.
