CAE Engineer
For over 75 years our client has been working with the makers of powered industrial equipment to design, deliver and support diesel engines and power solutions with the highest levels of performance and reliability.
They currently have a requirement for a CAE Engineer.
Location: Peterborough
Job Description:
Reporting to the CAE Team Leader, the successful candidate will hold the following responsibilities:
- Performing analytical structural integrity assessments, temperature predictions and vibration analyses of engine components and systems.
- Correlation work to compare analysis with test.
- Typical assessments will include: cylinder head durability, gasket sealing, bearing behavior, crank train durability and vibration.
- Component system modeling and boundary condition definition using finite element software.
- Temperature, stress, fatigue and vibration analysis.
Key Skills/Requirements:
- A degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering.
- Good experience of engine fundamentals and underlying theoretical principles, within the automotive industry.
- Understanding of structural mechanics and FEA, and the application of FEA techniques to the analysis and assessment of core internal combustion engine components.
- Detailed knowledge of at least 1 FEA code and at least 1 pre/post processor.
- Experience of any of the following- Linear statics, modal and forced response in the frequency domain, heat transfer, thermo-mechanical analysis, fatigue analysis, non-linear approaches, elastic/plastic materials and contact.
- Knowledge of ABAQUS on thermal and structural problems.
- Experience of engine measurement techniques, such as strain gauging and accelerometer readings.
