PRODUCT SAFETY ENG (CE MARKING)
ROLE
To undertake product safety-related tasks within a programme or during product development and to prepare adequate and complete Technical Construction Files, Safety Audits, Test & Inspection Reports at unit or Product level, supporting safe, well-documented designs. Product lines include transceivers, HP amplifiers, antenna couplers, loop antennas.
AT THE COAL FACE / TASKS / REQUIREMENTS
1. To complete the collation and compilation of Technical Files for the purposes of CE marking products and systems (EMC, RTT&E).
2. To assist in the implementation of product safety management processes, procedures and plans, preparing of Test Plans for Product Safety and EMC compliance
3.
4. To support creation of maintenance to the programme schedule in relation to own work
5. To present comprehensive information with clear explanations of task related situations and issues
6. To carry out hazard analysis and maintenance of such, including, but not limited to electrical, mechanical and chemical (or significant experience in this area).
ESSENTIAL SKILLS / PROVEN ABILITY
• A proven ability in understanding safety requirements & analyse & resolve problems
• Knowledge of Product Safety Engineering
• WEEE/RoHS regulations
• A proven ability in liaising with Notified Bodies and Test Houses to minimise testing requirements and ensure the timely completion of tests and reports
• Knowledge of product safety standards such as EN/IEC 60950, EN/IEC 61010, EN 60215, IEC/EN 60204, and MIL & DefStan, UL if possible
• Environmental considerations (both operational and ecological)
• Broad understanding of electrical, electronic and mechanical technologies
• Ability to deliver on time and within budget
• Actively supporting product development programme
• MS Office suite
• Some exposure to F(C)MEA, FTA, Risk Matrices
• Understanding of the ALARP principle
